Tory Burch: Women's Autumn/Winter 2020/21 show in New York (with interview)

Designer: tory burchinspiration: it was at sotheby’s in manhattan that the american designer has invited his guests, discovering and circulating between 11 ceramic sculptures by francesca dimattio. inspired by this artist, the designer went so far as to ask her to collaborate with her on her latest collection, especially on the prints. the singer alice smith also came to sing during the show.the two artists perfectly represent feminine power for which the designer is committed to through her fashion. collection: the show opens with natalia vodianova wearing a cotton jacquard floral outfit with thigh-high boots also with decorated with flowers. these boots, which slip on above the knee with laces, become one of the flagship pieces of the collection. the suit is worn like a horse rider, with a jacket raised on the shoulders and trousers tucked into the boots. it’s also a mix’n’match with different patterns and colours that come together on silk satin dresses worn like a tied scarf. sequins bring shine while pleats decorate long skirts cut at the tip.to note: the shirts with sections of fabric added over them and bohemian dresses.interview with tory burch:she takes the idea of things that are traditionally thought of as a women’s work whether its basket weaving or beading of a wedding dress and then she clashes that with these giant structures and messes with that idea and to me that’s exactly what we’re trying to do with our foundation as well, is empower women to own their confidence.she did the prints and it was interesting because they’re also inspired by a classicist from the start and then we made them giant and much more vibrant and it was really fun working with her on that. it was a lot about mix and also subtlety, i felt like i wanted to have things that weren’t as obvious either and just more classic pieces that you can keep forever which is something that has always been part of our collections but we really want to emphasise that now, less is more, less product but product that will last with more integrity.music from the show (to use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information)
