London Fashion Week Best of: In a difficult context, humour and creativity remain

access_time 00:02:04

Every season london breathes a new wind of originality and creativity during its fashion week. in the middle of doubt and uncertainty amongst brexit and massive climate change protests, designers try to communicate messages during their shows whilst trying to remain positive.the first impression takes height, so to speak, seen at christopher kane around the image of a balloon and its play on volumes, whilst molly goddard’s women model in the wind at the foreign and commonwealth office in westminster.at alexa chung, it’s all about survival with a nature setting and a collection called “off the grid, but not for long”. at vivienne westwood, things are taken up a level and activists preach amongst the models, including the president of greenpeace and the actress and activist, rose mcgowan.for the most awaited show, burberry by riccardo tisci, the designer celebrates youth through a contrasting england from punk to aristocracy with the presence of his three top model friends irina shayk, natalia vodianova, and mariacarla boscono.despite this heavy context, the idea of romanticism is never far in england and is translated through sublime creations with additions of embroideries, flowers and feathers seen at erdem, roland mouret and david koma who was inspired by famous symbols from taken from shakespeare’s plays.finally, the favourite for this fashion week were accessories like house of holland’s berets, molly goddard’s cagoules and alexa chung’s headscarves. as well as christopher kane’s bags filled with water. a new way to celebrate the talent and humour in this london fashion week.
