Esteban Cortazar- Women's Collection Autumn/Winter 2018/19 in New York (with interview)

Designer : Esteban CortazarInspiration: after having shown for several seasons in Paris, Esteban Cortazar returns to the city where he made his debut, New York. The influence of South America is everywhere, from the clothing right down to the music. Collection: material is supreme, the draping, the pleats, the fall of fabric. A cashmere and wool dress, in red, the colour of passion. Colourful woollen fringing and vibrant toned beading are added to a coat, a skirt, a camisole. A tunic is transformed into a jumpsuit, another is layered over trousers. To note: the enveloping knitwear from Bermuda shorts to scarves, the backless black dress with long, rounded sleeves. Interview with Esteban Cortazar:This is the place where it all began so to come and do kind of a love letter to New York, and the place where I was able to begin this dream. I wouldn’t have been in Paris if it wasn’t for America, it gave me this opportunity to be here in New York and do it. It was about everything that’s alive, so nature, is all around us so that was such a big part of where we took the colours, the mohair embroidery coming out of the coats that was the brushstrokes of nature in a way. The leaves, the jewellery, everything had a sense of earthiness and something that is close to the earth. You do a show to tell a story and I think this was a love letter to South America, to where I come from, to nature. I get emotional even talking about it.
