Guy Laroche - Womenswear Show Autumn/Winter 2015/16 in Paris with interview

access_time 00:02:04

The first collection by adam andrascik for guy laroche. the new woman appears more sensual, more rebellious. the designer deconstructs the silhouettes through a play with panels where the skirts seem to be broken up by bands whilst the materials are mixed together for the tops and jackets. the necklines are more plunging, and silver and gold make their entrance on the tube dresses made in lurex wool. the designs appear on the hand tattooed leather, like on this white biker jacket and leather trouser ensemble. a new vision for this french house which is looking to renew itself. to note: these lightly pleated, smokey grey ensembles and tight fitted dresses with large, and very sexy slits.interview: adam andrascik: well for me i had to go back into the archive i really wanted to figure out who he was as a designer and after looking into the 60s, 70s and 80s, i realised what he was really interested in was reflecting a modern woman and making the clothing at the time, reflect...basically making it more relevant.really look at his work with a fresh eye, make it more modern, make it more bold, make it more exciting because i think that’s what he would have done. so these drawings – i’ve been exploring this idea of tattooed leather jackets and i wanted to basically take this and turn it into a motif, like an actual, all over blown-out print, as if you had got addicted to images and it no longer became about a certain style or a certain shape and you just wanted to cover your whole body with the adornation of it so that was really interesting and it also came from this movie “the pillow book” and they were constantly painting on men’s bodies, it just seemed really new and exciting, and the film came out just a little bit after guy laroche passed away, so i said well why don’t we start there, that’s an interesting way of segwaying my work with his and then we see where it goes. music from the show
