Louis Vuitton Spring Summer Collection 2014 in Paris (with interviews)

Emotion overwhelms us as we enter the Louis Vuitton show tent in the square courtyard of the Louvre. Before our very eyes there is a fountain, merry-go-rounds, lifts, escalators, a hotel corridor… This setting has been seen in previous years and there is also an LV clock which moves anticlockwise… However, this event is not all about scenery but of course a new, enchanting and majestic collection… Marc Jacobs dedicates it to all the women who inspired him and who have that showgirl side within them (from Emmanuelle Alt to Sofia Coppola, from Judy Garland to Lady Gaga, from Kate Moss to Miuccia Prada). On the runway, the girls walk slowly, sporting headdresses made of black feathers. She wears mesh leggings embroidered with black stones or jeans coordinated with elaborately worked jackets: there is embroidery, feathers and chiffon flowers which seem to sprout from the back, badges and embellishments. One walk is not nearly enough to take in every detail. Asymmetrical dresses are scattered with ultra light lace whilst other open-back gowns in marine blue or black exude sensuality. Emotions are uncontrollable as the audience stand up to applaud Marc Jacobs. Not a word is said, no one makes a sound, preferring to hold onto the magic of the moment…

Interview:

Marc Jacobs: It is all about glamour, dazzle, decorations, surface and inspiration from women who just express themselves through their clothes, through their art, through their point of view.

The bag was inspired by the Noe which was a bag that carried five bottles of champagne and I wanted to take it and make it more contemporary and redress it with beads and bows and feathers and studs and I think we did that.

Sofia Coppola: I thought it was beautiful.
